The students called it "State University Agricultural and Technical Institute," or "S.U.A.T.I." for short. As a student attending the University, I didn't know much about its historical significance. He is an award-winning historian, the author of five books and scores of scholarly articles, and a contributor to the Long Island Forum and the Long Island Historical Journal.
